Job Description
We are looking for a Quality Engineer to ensures that all metal fabrication processes meet internal and customer quality standards. This role focuses on inspecting production, driving root cause analysis, developing control plans, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations and certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949 if automotive).
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain quality control processes for metal stamping, welding, laser cutting, painting (e-coat/powder), CNC machining, and assembly.
- Investigate and resolve quality issues using root cause analysis tools (5 Why, Fishbone, FMEA, etc.).
- Create and implement corrective and preventive action plans (CAPA).
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to ensure quality standards are built into product design and manufacturing processes.
- Perform internal audits and support external audits (ISO, customer, etc.).
- Maintain and analyze quality metrics (PPM, scrap, rework, customer complaints).
- Prepare and review documentation such as PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, and Work Instructions.
- Participate in new product launches to ensure quality planning is completed.
- Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a quality role within metal fabrication or manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of metalworking processes (e.g., welding, stamping, machining).
- Familiar with quality tools and standards (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, PPAP, APQP).
- Proficient in reading technical drawings and using inspection equipment (CMM, calipers, micrometers, Blueprints).
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Green Belt.
- Experience with MSA and SPC.
